Scott Simpson, CFP®
Certified Financial Planner™
My mission is to help Gen X and Millennial individuals create a personalized retirement plan and plan for their future so they can retire early and focus on what matters most to them.
I understand how difficult and emotional money management can be. I also understand the practicalities of creating and managing a solid financial foundation, so you can accomplish your financial goals and have the freedom to spend time with those you love.
A Little Bit About Me
When I first enrolled in college, I did not plan on being a financial planner. I started studying music education but had doubts about whether I wanted to do that or not. My wife and I were attending the University of Utah where she was taking a finance class taught by a CFP® professional. She thought I’d be interested because I was passionate about our budgeting and was looking for a new major and career path.
I attended the class and was inspired by the confidence and education this professional provided. He even stopped to talk to me after class and told me how rewarding it was to help people develop healthier relationships with their finances. Because of that experience, I was motivated to change majors and I earned my bachelor's degree in Financial Planning.
After two years as a licensed Financial Services Rep, I joined Synergy as a Financial Planner in 2018, I went on to obtain my Series 65, my health/life insurance licenses, and my CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ (CFP®) designation.
Who I Help
I have a special interest in working with those with a pension, medical professionals, general contractors, and diligent savers who have $500,000 or more in assets (excluding real estate).
What To Expect
When I sit down to work with you, we’ll first take time to get to know each other so I understand what you want out of your life. Being intentional with your finances starts with a clear picture of your current situation and where you want to go.
From there, I’ll help you set up systems that make it easy and practical to implement a plan. Implementing automation helps reduce anxiety, stress & confusion about finances so you can focus on what matters most to you. You can be more intentional with your financial planning so you can be more intentional with your daily life. Let’s work together to go from confusion and anxiety to confidence in your future. Contact me to schedule a convenient time to talk.
My Personal Life
Outside of personal finance, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. Like many other ADHDers, I have a variety of interests and passions. You might find me playing outside with my son or enjoying a game of pickleball or basketball with friends. I also enjoy me some quality TV (Game Show Network is a guilty pleasure of mine), a Utes football game, a Utah Jazz basketball game, and I also love to play video games with family and friends (Mario Kart, Minecraft, or Fall Guys to name a few).
